View Vol. 1 No. 1 (2026): Digital Transformation in Infrastructure Maintenance Strategy Towards Sustainable Infrastructure

For decades, the discipline of infrastructure management has been defined by the physical: the gradual degradation of concrete, the fatigue of steel, and the logistical challenges of manual inspection. However, we currently stand at an inflection point. The rapid maturation of Industry 4.0 technologies is forcing a paradigm shift from reactive maintenance to predictive, data-driven resilience. A review article in this special issue aims to provide a new horizon in developing proactive infrastructure maintenance strategies. This special issue explores the critical intersection where physical assets meet digital intelligence. As urbanization accelerates and climate volatility tests the limits of legacy systems, the traditional "build and forget" model is no longer tenable.
