Automation in Infrastructure Maintenance Strategy for a Resilient Community
Vol. 1 No. 2 (2026)Many communities around the world live in disaster-prone areas, particularly in Indonesia, which lies within the Ring of Fire and is vulnerable to earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. Therefore, it is crucial for infrastructure managers and those responsible to ensure that infrastructure remains in optimal condition and is fully operational. One key factor is a rapid, efficient, and effective infrastructure maintenance strategy. One way to achieve this is through the use of IoT technology capable of monitoring infrastructure conditions in real time and in a measurable manner. Thus, the articles in this volume discuss the automation of infrastructure maintenance for communities resilient to disasters.

Digital Transformation in Infrastructure Maintenance Strategy Towards Sustainable Infrastructure
Vol. 1 No. 1 (2026)For decades, the discipline of infrastructure management has been defined by the physical: the gradual degradation of concrete, the fatigue of steel, and the logistical challenges of manual inspection. However, we currently stand at an inflection point. The rapid maturation of Industry 4.0 technologies is forcing a paradigm shift from reactive maintenance to predictive, data-driven resilience. A review article in this special issue aims to provide a new horizon in developing proactive infrastructure maintenance strategies. This special issue explores the critical intersection where physical assets meet digital intelligence. As urbanization accelerates and climate volatility tests the limits of legacy systems, the traditional "build and forget" model is no longer tenable.
